My name is Anne and I am the owner of Shade Tree Bakery.
I have always had a passion for everything sweet. I grew up in a household with a mother that couldn't bake to save her life and when she did bake, she always wanted everything underdone. She would much rather eat some hot batter than an actual cookie or brownie. Needless to say, I didn't learn much from her about baking. But that didn't stop me from making, or attempting to make, countless messy cakes and cookies whenever I could. It wasn't until I met my husband that I learned how to make a great cookie. And an actual cookie! Not one that looked like a bumpy pancake! Who knew that you actually needed to measure out all those ingredients?! ;) Since then I have learned a lot.
With the help of an old friend, I learned some basic fondant techniques and some basic recipes. Since then I have grown and learned a lot. Now there isn't a recipe that I can't handle or a decorating technique that I can't teach myself how to do!
I started decorating cakes as a hobby in 2011 and in 2013 I decided to take my part time passion full time.
